Barton Malow hosted a diversity outreach Friday, October 6th at their main office in Baltimore. I got a chance to test out the Virtual Reality (VR) Goggles and walk around inside the $68 Million Student Services Building. The project is 5 stories, 142,000 SF footprint is due to take 24 months to complete. The project is slated to begin in March 2018 and complete in February 2020. This LEED Silver project will be using Building Information Modeling (BIM) integration with a model being required by each trade.

The project has a 30% overall diversity participation goal (MDOT certified)  as well as a local hiring goal put in place by Barton Malow. “We look to hire in the communities in which we build” stated Brian Goodykoontz, Lead Project Manager for the project.

There will be two phases of the project. Phase One documents will be available on October 16, 2017. Phase Two documents will be available after another diversity outreach that will take place in mid-November 2017. You must be pre-qualified by Barton Malow to work on this project. You can obtain the prequal here.

Best of luck to all the bidders.
